Arbitrary two dimensional sections (time-height, lon-lat, lat-height, lon-height etc.) of any aerosols / tracers, and three-dimensional animation of aerosols distribution. Archived figures of dust/sulfate distributions since 2003. Please contact shimizua(atmark)nies.go.jp for password.
This page displays distributions of Asian dust, anthropogenic aerosols, and tracers (chemical components) forecasted by Chemical weather FORecasting System (CFORS). CFORS was developed by Prof. Itsushi Uno and Mr. Koji Ishihara in Research Institute for Applied Mechanics (RIAM), Kyushu University, Japan.
CFORS calculate the distributions numerically with CPU-cluster utilizing information about atmospheric conditions, land surface usage, and emission inventories.
The system migrated to National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) with financial support by Center for Global Environmental Research (CGER) in June 2002.

Outline of RIAM-CFORS (by Prof. Uno, RIAM, Kyushu Univ.)
*Linux Cluster in NIES: PentiumIV(1.7GHz) x 4nodes Xeon 2.66MHz x 8 cores
40 km horizontal grid and 40 vertical layers.
